Saina Nehwal Quotes after Olympic 2012

Below is the collection of Saina Nehwal quotes after winning Olympic Medal:

" When I started playing my mother had faith that I am going to win an Olympic one day."

"After I lost to Wang Yihan, I cried hours, but then I forgot about it because I wanted to win the bronze."

"Nothing bigger than standing on the Olympic podium..It still seems like a dream, it is unbelievable."

" I want to change the colour of the medal in future."

" Proud of myself."

"I really want to play more and get medals for the country."

"There's a good chance that the badminton team will be stronger in the next Olympics."

"Happy to have won at least bronze."

"I was confident of winning an Olympic medal but never spoke about it."

"I had trained hard and there was a lot of expectation. I initially thought that she was just taking rest as she was tiring out, but then I realised she was injured. It's sad that she got injured, but I was confident of beating her as I was coming into rhythm,"

"Today my strategy was to engage her in long rallies and it did work to some extent. Yesterday (in the semi-final) also we had the same strategy, but it did not work. I should have tried something else and played my own game instead of trying to match her,"

"I had never won a match like this before. May be, the medal was written for me. I have always wanted an Olympic medal. I always wanted to see India's national flag going up at the podium,"

"It's just unbelievable, I am speechless. I am happy that I actually did what I promised and believed in. It is a dream to win gold but I am happy that at least I have a bronze and is the first Indian to win a badminton Olympic medal,"

"I want to thank dad, mom and Gopi sir for their support. I really hope to win many more medals for India,"

"My grandmother did not come to see me till a month after my birth. I was born seven years after my only sister and my birth was a big disappointment for her. In it there is a message that I understand very well now about the discrimination against the girl child."

Saina Wins Indonesia Open final 2012

Saina Nehwal made an amazing and fighting comeback to defeat Li Xuerui of China 13-21, 22-20, 21-19 in the Indonesia Open final 2012.
Though Saina looked out of sorts in the first game which she lost 21-13 but she made a solid fightback and second game took Saina lead against her higher ranked opponent. But Li made a great comeback to level the scores at 20-each in 3rd set.

The Indian champ then found immense strength to win the final two points and the game 22-20. The third game was a battle of nerves as neither player was willing to wilt under the pressure. After losing first set

Saina didn't lose her composure and kept herself focused and spirited, winning the next 2 sets to win the final shows the caliber of this awesome girl. Amazing and inspiring...Hats off!

"Difficulties in your life do not come to destroy you; but to help you realize your hidden potential. Let difficulties know that you too are difficult."

HYDERABAD: Saina Nehwal's purple patch has just got an extension. Four weeks after the nation celebrated her terrific triple - hat-trick of wins at Indian Open, Singapore Super Series and Indonesia Super Series - the government bestowed upon her the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, the highest sporting honour in the country.

Surprisingly, the champion shuttler is not celebrating, rather she does not have time to celebrate. Her coach Pullela Gopichand insisted that she should not skip evening practice.

Worse still, she'll be doing the 'super circuit' considered the most difficult and energy sapping session of the whole week. "I am ecstatic. It's a great honour, the best I got and one of my long term dreams. But I wish it was not announced on Friday."

"Notwithstanding the hard work, I am enjoying every moment of my career. This award brings more responsibility to me and I'll work hard to bring more honour for the country," Saina said.

After the customary congratulations she expected her coach to give her an off. "He patted me and told me to sleep in the afternoon so that I can do the 'super circuit' session. I can't say no to him. It's a different experience going through the gruelling session even before the excitement of getting the award could sink in," Saina said.

The world number two thanked the government for the honour and said that though she got several honours nothing would match the Khel Ratna. "I know sportspersons die to get this Award. I am no different. I badly wanted to win it. I rate it as one of the biggest achievements of my life. I thank the government for this award. These things give us a lot of motivation and encourages us to work even harder," said Saina.

Incidentally, this is the third major award for her in the last one year. She won the Arjuna last August, Padma Shri this January and now the Khel Ratna.

President Pratibha Patil will present the award to Saina at a ceremony on August 29 in New Delhi. The award comprises a scroll of honour, medal and a cash prize of Rs 7.5 lakh.

NEW DELHI: Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal is just a step away from realising her goal of becoming the world's numero uno player as she jumped one place to a career-best second in the latest international rankings.

"I am very happy to achieve the world number two so soon in my career. The last three wins have really helped me. It is a great feeling but I feel my priority still will be to win more tournaments for India rather than focussing on ranking," Saina said.

"It will be difficult to hold on to the ranking but I hope to continue my hard work and win more titles and become the number one player soon," said the Hyderabadi shuttler, who is down with fever and cold.

The 20-year-old Saina made a meteoric rise following her back-to-back title triumphs at the India Open Grand Prix and the Singapore Open Super Series, reaching the world number three last month.

And after the Indian defended her Indonesian Open Super Series crown to complete her hat-trick of titles, it was just a matter of time that she jumped to the second place.

By virtue of the consecutive title wins, Saina now has 64791.2637 points and is just behind Chinese Yihan Wang, while Xin Wang of China is in the third place.

Saina's father Harvir Singh also expressed happiness and hoped her daughter can continue her good work for the country.

"God has been kind. It is a marvellous achievement. I hope she can continue to work hard and win more laurels for the country," Harvir Singh said.

In March, Saina had attained the fifth position after becoming the first Indian woman to reach the semifinals of the prestigious All England Super Series Championships.

However, she dropped to the sixth position in the subsequent weeks.

Saina's next engagement will be in the World badminton Championship in Paris next month, before playing the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.
